I recently heard about a website called Soup from Andy DeSoto.

Apparently it’s an aggregation service like FriendFeed, Socialthing or Swurl.

To be honest it’s got a few problems – it doesn’t refresh automatically when new content is available and doesn’t even notify you so you can refresh it.

It does have a cool page designer so you can lay your page out the way you want it.  Even better, you can use your own subdomain to redirect to it – check my page out here.

Also it has an infinite scrollbar so you can just keep scrolling back in time without refreshing or changing  pages, which is nice.

Apparently AOL just bought socialthing.

Since I got into the private beta I’ve started to use socialthing every day – it’s very useful.

I can’t think of any way this is a good thing – I really liked socialthing and I can’t see AOL leaving it alone or changing it for the better, unless the extra investment just means socialthing supports more services…

I just received my invitation to the socialthing private beta, and I’ve got two invites to give out! Add a comment to this post with your email address if you want one – first come, first served.

socialthing has been compared to FriendFeed because they seem similar, but it’s actually sort of the opposite. FriendFeed brings all of your actions on various services together into one feed which you can then share with other people. socialthing on the other hand brings all of your friends’ actions on various services together into one feed for you to see.

I’ve only played with it for a few minutes but it seems to work pretty well. They do need to add more services though – currently there are only six, though that’s perfectly understandable at this early stage.

Wonder how they plan to make money from it.
